[log] paint a heart repeating, beating "don't give up, don't give up, don't give up."
[22:53] * Candice is sorting out phone details for an upcoming job, but she hangs up and tosses herself into a chair in the bedroom suite shortly after.
[22:58] * Martel is shortly behind her, his hair still damp and a contemplative look on his face that could be any number of things. "Tired, are we?"
[23:02] Candice: "Exhausted on a purely mental level." She rises to kiss him, because that's what she's been doing a lot of lately. (Since she became like him.)
[23:11] * Martel hasn't complained once - imagine that. He wraps his arms around her waist and stays there, almost leaning. "I've been ousted from my study."
[23:15] Candice: "Have you? I should profit from that, I think." She /does/ lean. "By whom?"
[23:16] Martel: "Ewar and his opinions." Martel's fond of Ewar, in a 'you're a proto baby Kurik, aren't you, this is fucking with me a little' sort of a way. If nothing else it means he's good about being bossed around by an employee. "You might as well, since I'm here already. Did I tell you I ran into your smaller self?"
[23:17] Candice: "...I don't--I ran into yours, I didn't know that, no."
[23:17] Martel: "Ah." He's not sure how to elaborate, or if he should.
[23:18] Candice: "How awkward was it?" She leans back a little to look up at him.
[23:19] Martel: "Desperately. She's a child." Martel looks back down at her, and after a moment of this pulls her towards a sofa.
[23:20] * Candice ...settles on his lap. What. "Yes, well. So were you." Though tinyMartel would probably object to that description.
[23:21] * Martel grimaces at her on principle, although the fact she's in his lap and he's arranging for ease of this lessens the impact more than slightly. "I don't think I managed to say anything helpful."
[23:21] Candice: "I think I might have. I'll make up for you." Annnd kissing along his jaw a little.
[23:22] Martel: "Do /you/ have that kind of utterly terrifying ill-advised faith in me?" Martel asks her - facetiously - and then kisses her to prevent actual responses.
[23:23] * Candice faces him in his lap, bites his lip almost hard enough to make him bleed, and then leans back. "Yes." She smiles, mild.
[23:24] Martel: "That's awful," he tells her, blandly, touching his lip with his tongue.
[23:25] Candice: "Oh?" She...watches him do this. Shut up. "Should I leave the room so you can cope with the tragedy of my having faith in you?"
[23:26] * Martel pulls her closer to him. "Absolutely not. Misery /adores/ company."
[23:27] Candice: "I don't know that I'm very good company," she says, with affected thoughtfulness, "I start another job soon, you know."
[23:29] Martel: "Which hospital will I be collecting you from this time?" Martel pairs this with kissing her shoulder.
[23:30] Candice: "Well, ideally, you won't be. You weren't too pleased about it last time."
[23:31] Martel: "I wouldn't call it an experience I'm anxious to repeat," he drawls. "Ideally, then, where am I not going to have to threaten doctors from?"
[23:32] Candice: "California. So at least it'll be warm." She slides her hands (aaand nails) up under his shirt. Or lack of shirt, he will go without clothes when he can get away with it and she knows it.
[23:35] * Martel is dressed fairly lightly, because after being kicked out of his office he had a bath. It will probably not last. "What're you going there to do?" How can he possibly be this even when he's investigating her clothing.
[23:37] * Candice is wearing shorts and a t-shirt. She's basic. She needs to stop shifting around in his lap, it isn't conducive to conversation. "Poltergeist type thing. It shouldn't be a big deal. Don't worry, okay?"
[23:40] * Martel ... investigates underneath her tshirt, aren't you people trying to discuss things. "You know telling me not to is never reassuring," he says, mildly, pressing his lips to the side of her neck and laughing, a little. "Poltergeist. Charming."
[23:44] Candice: "Isn't it, thou...gh." Hi, Martel, your hands and your mouth and the current positioning are all very distracting things. "I'll take him out, keep this family from losing their minds, and come back to you. I'm considering whether I'm going to stay there a week or not."
[23:45] Martel: "I should find something useful to do with my time if you do," which in other words means an unsupervised Martel is a Martel who will go and find something to do he might otherwise have to explain. Perhaps she won't notice if he says this while he's doing...that.
[23:45] Candice: "Usefu--I'm not going anywhere." She tips her head down and sinks her teeth /hard/ into his neck.
[23:47] * Martel is laughing right up until he's...pinning her to the sofa, hello Candice's teeth.
[23:49] Candice: "We were having a conversation," she reminds him, pinned.
[23:49] Martel: "You distracted me," Martel says, piously innocent of any accusation.
[23:51] * Candice arches up underneath him. "I still haven't told anyone else."
[23:52] * Martel holds her still partly because he can and partly so he can think his way through that. "About changing." It's /almost/ a question.
[23:53] Candice: "Mmm. I haven't been hiding it. But I like that it's just you and me." She squirms against his hold.
[23:53] Martel: "It's not anyone else's concern 'til they notice we're not aging," Martel says, reasonably, not loosening his grip when he kisses her, "and that's a ways off yet."
[23:58] * Candice gets revenge by stretching her legs snug against his. "My mother's already talking to me about more grandchildren. You'd think she has enough."
[23:59] Martel: "As I recall," Martel murmurs, mostly against the side of her jaw, "my mother started on me for those before I was twenty."
[00:01] Candice: "It's not like we're in a hurry," she protests, sighing.
[00:03] Martel: "I have all the time in the world."
[00:04] Candice: "And now, so do I." She punctuates this with digging her nails into the small of his back how is that a good idea, Candice.
[00:06] Martel: "That's mine as well," Martel informs her, 'helpfully'.
[00:06] Candice: "Oh? Is there anything about me that isn't yours?" She looks more amused than freaked out by this assertion, because she is a little crazy. Stealth crazy.
[00:07] Martel: "...no," Martel says, after genuinely considering it for a few moments.
[00:08] Candice: "Possessive," she reiterates, sliding her legs around his waist. Hi. "I do love you, though."
[00:10] Martel: "I don't deny it." He rests over her on his hands, halfway between amused and something else, "And you know how I feel about you." At this point probably everyone in a hundred mile radius knows how he feels about her.
[00:11] Candice: "Remind me," she teases, kissing him briefly, "you're so good at expressing yourself." She does not mean with talking.
[00:13] * Martel ... is excellent at expressing himself, and some time later he might even use words to do it. ...In a while. ...He has no idea where his shirt ended up.
[00:14] * Candice is in the process of trying to pick up her shirt one-handed--the other is in her hair, as she tries to fix that, too. "Ow," she says, accusingly, and not really minding. Let's not explore what that's about, actually.
[00:15] Martel: "Beg pardon," Martel says, glancing up from his fruitless search for the rest of his clothes (and giving up, it's not hard to distract him from getting dressed), "which one of us is bleeding now?"
[00:16] Candice: She wordlessly displays her collarbone to him.
[00:17] * Martel pauses, then inclines his head, as if to say 'touché'.
[00:19] * Candice is going to hang out in her t-shirt and panties, actually. Hi. "I should take a shower now that I've tired you out."
[00:19] * Martel sprawls obnoxiously. "Abandoning me so swiftly."
[00:22] * Candice ...straddles him. What. "I'm sorry, caballero, did you want to cuddle?" >:3
[00:23] * Martel gives her a look that cannot even be transcribed. Very seriously: "Yes."
[00:24] Candice: "Good, because I'm rather comfortable. I think I should get to have this position more often."
[00:26] * Martel laughs, low. "Do you like it up there?"
[00:26] Candice: "I do. You seem to enjoy it, when you've got it." She presses her hands flat on his chest.
[00:28] Martel: "Fancy that. Perhaps I can indulge you. On occasion." Martel is a terrible person in general.
[00:29] Candice: "Really. Are you screwing with me?" He is not gonna let you top him, Candice.
[00:30] * Martel looks totally innocent for about a fifth of a second. "I'm lying through my teeth." Annnnd then he kisses her.
[00:31] * Candice makes an indignant sound and tries to pin him.
[00:32] * Martel successfully eludes capture. "Ah-ah-ah."
[00:33] Candice: "I never know what to think when you make that sound like I'm some kind of errant pet you've got to train to service your whims," she notes, kissing along his jaw instead.
[00:34] * Martel is actually momentarily taken aback, and almost laughs. "Have you seen my pets, darling? You're far more agreeable." ...look, the cats are terrifying.
[00:36] Candice: "Well, I was teasing you. If anything, you're my pet." >:3 ...now she's goading him.
[00:37] Martel: "Your obedience training is falling behind," he informs her, dry as the Cynesgan desert.
[00:39] Candice: "What are you going to do, grab me by the back of the neck and drag me away?" ...she sounds as though she wouldn't mind, sob. Martel, what are you doing to this woman.
[00:44] Martel: "Don't I have you where I want you already?"
[00:45] Candice: "Aren't you /tired/?" She laughs, tipping her head back.
[00:48] Martel: "Positively boneless. Lie down with me." He bites her shoulder, and her neck, since it's there. "When is this job of yours you mentioned?"
[00:49] * Candice obligingly curls against him, making a pleased noise at the biting. "I'm going to be covered in marks. Umm...not 'til Wednesday, they're sending their daughters off to grandma's for a break then."
[00:53] Martel: "Do you need anything?" he asks, absently.
[00:56] Candice: "Luck? I don't know. It's my first job since I was injured, since that town." She leans against him. "I almost died, and -- this happened, and... I feel pretty out of it, with the job."
[01:00] Martel: "Always death," he observes, with no real point to it, and tips his head. "'Out of it'?"
[01:01] Candice: "Part of me wonders if one day I couldn't...stop, at least for a while. I know you'd probably prefer I did when I'm pregnant, at least." UH YES.
[01:01] * Martel ... pauses, discernibly. "/Obviously/."
[01:02] Candice: "If something important came up, though--"
[01:03] Martel: "You're not the only person in the multiverse capable of handling something," he disagrees, a little flatly.
[01:08] Candice: "This is a hard limit, isn't it."
[01:08] Martel: "I wasn't planning on bending it."
[01:18] * Candice sighs, relenting. "All right. Don't start getting ideas about tying me to anything."
[01:18] Martel: "When did you develop an objection to that?" That's not what she meant, Martel.
[01:19] Candice: "...you know what I meant," she laughs a little, "sometimes I worry whether I'm woman enough to keep track of your libido. You might have to acquire spares."
[01:27] * Martel gives her a mock-injured look for her trouble.
[01:28] Candice: "What. I'm not naive!" She teases him. "Attraction happens. I know men can't help it." :>
[01:28] * Martel sinks his teeth into her shoulder.
[01:29] * Candice squeals and pushes away. "I'm serious!"
[01:29] Martel: "I should hope you're not," Martel says, rolling to prop himself up on his elbows.
[01:30] Candice: "What if we're together hundreds of years? More?" She raises her eyebrows at him. "I think it's possible."
[01:31] * Martel continues staring at her like she's gone totally mad.
[01:31] Candice: "In hundreds of years, you're going to at least have a passing want for someone else, even if it's spur of the moment," she insists, "Martel. Really."
[01:33] Martel: "/Passing/," he insists right back, "if at all."
[01:34] Candice: "I'm saying if you wanted to act on it, you'd be permitted." Okay, she'd actually hate it, but from what little she does know about men, they go crazy if they're confined to one person for too long.
[01:38] * Martel is bewildered and possibly offended, he hasn't decided. "No, I wouldn't." What.
[01:39] Candice: "I don't want you to get tired of me, and if it were purely physical..." She'd still be hideously uncomfortable. But she's saying this anyway, because Candice was raised warped, hello Martel.
[01:42] Martel: "Candice, I don't-" Martel sits up, properly now, pinching the bridge of his nose. "You can't possibly be serious." He does not /want/ her to be serious.
[01:44] * Candice sits up, too, wide-eyed. "Well, it's not as though I can force you. I just thought I'd say so. We don't have to discuss it if you'd prefer not to."
[01:49] Martel: "I wouldn't be comfortable," he says, precisely.
[01:50] Candice: "Okay. I just...want to be fair to you."
[01:51] Martel: "You're entirely fair to me, that's - unnecessary."
[01:53] Candice: "All right. I'm sorry if I offended you."
[01:53] * Martel unknots, a little. "All right."
[01:55] * Candice slips closer to him. "Next time, just gag me."
[01:59] Martel: "There's an intriguing thought for another night."
[01:59] * Candice ...stares at him for a second.
[02:00] * Martel radiates innocence.
[02:01] Candice: "You're not really kidding, are you." She just presses her face into his shoulder, amused. (And, okay, curious.)
[02:01] Martel: "I'm just entertaining the thought."
[02:01] Candice: "What would you even /use/--" Candice don't encourage him.
[02:02] * Martel is contemplating it now.
[02:03] * Candice preoccupies herself with resettling against Martel.
[02:04] * Martel tucks her closer, because there is no such thing as 'close enough'.
[02:05] * Candice sneaks another look at him now. Is he still thinking about that.
[02:05] * Martel might be.
[02:13] Candice: "Quit fantasizing and do something already," she says, dryly, "or I'll go get a scarf--for /you/."
[02:13] Martel: "I'm /speculating/, it's entirely - you damn well will not-"
[02:14] * Candice leaaans back away from him and makes as though she's going to leave the sofa.
[02:16] * Martel possibly has a homing beacon in his hands for where he's already left marks, judging by the ability to dig his fingers into them again with very little effort in the process of pulling her back to him.
[02:17] Candice: "It's terrible," she says, after the initial yelp, "I'd let you do anything you wanted to me, anyway."
[02:18] Martel: "Do we have to have a discussion about the wisdom of entrusting me with /anything/ again?" Play nice, Mar- oh, you are. Well.
[02:18] Candice: "No," she laughs, "because it never changes my mind."
[02:22] Martel: "God have mercy," he says, dryly. "No, I'm tired. You'll have to wait."
[02:24] Candice: "For the discussion?" Innocently.
[02:24] * Martel bites her shoulder.
[02:26] Candice: "Ow! If you keep doing that, /I'm/--" She stops. "--well. I know why you do that, anyway."
[02:26] Martel: "Do you now?"
[02:30] Candice: "You enjoy being the one to make me squirm."
[02:31] Martel: "Deeply. You have me entirely worked out."
[02:31] Candice: "No, I think that'll come when you're less tired and won't mind a more thorough examination." :>
[02:35] * Martel digs his fingers in again. This is not the solution to everything, Martel.
[02:38] * Candice is very tense and very still and totally not trembling, shut up.
[02:39] * Martel lifts her with him when he stands up- "I feel like I'm going to roll off this thing at any minute."
[02:41] Candice: "Then where are we going instead?" She wraps her arms and legs around him, clinging ridiculously. "One of these days you're going to accidentally drop me, and I'll use it against you forever."
[02:41] Martel: "I'm not going to /drop you/," Martel says, offended and carrying her to the bed approximately the size of a football field. (Slight exaggeration.)
[02:46] Candice: "I'm heavy," she contradicts, kissing his neck after to make up for this terrible slight.
[02:47] Martel: "I have /armour/ heavier than you," he disagrees, and punctuates this by dropping her. .............deliberately, on the bed.
[02:49] * Candice sprawls and ...hides under the covers.
[02:52] * Martel prods the blanketed lump.
[02:52] * Candice is immobile.
[02:52] Martel: "What in God's name are you doing."
[02:59] Candice: "Well, I was waiting for you, but..."
[03:01] Martel: "Madwoman." Martel's really quite affectionate about this accusation, joining her.
[03:01] * Candice squirms out from under the blanket. "Well. I could go back to the sofa."
[03:01] Martel: "It's a hypothetical possibility, granted."
[03:04] Candice: "I'll have to conduct a scientific experiment. Which is more comfortable: the sofa, or my husband?" Pounce.
[03:05] Martel: "I'm not as soft- hello-"
[03:07] Candice: "If I wanted soft, I don't think I'd have somehow conned you into loving me." :>
[03:08] Martel: "Was that on purpose, was it?" Martel exhibits skepticism.
[03:11] Candice: "My subconscious did it." She is, uh, drawing patterns on his upper abdomen...with her nails.
[03:12] Martel: "Your subconscious is plainly a menace." So are her nails, by the way, which he's keeping an eye on.
[03:13] Candice: "You like menaces. They keep you entertained." Her nails are in no way slowly moving in circles toward one hipbone.
[03:14] Martel: "Not all of them. You I like."
[03:16] Candice: "I'm very glad to hear that." ...Candice your hand.
[03:17] Martel: "Weren't you the one who thought I was /tired/?" It's fascinating but he doesn't actually sound like he's protesting.
[03:19] Candice: "Would you like me to stop? I'm only double-checking. I'm a little younger than you, caballero, I don't tire so easy."
[03:20] * Martel is...briefly struck by something, which he proceeds to breeze entirely past. "By all means continue."
[03:21] Candice: "Let's see how long we can keep conversation flowing while I do," she suggests. Candice is secretly evil. Now you know.
[03:22] * Martel already knew. Due to encouraging it a little. "/Candice/."
[03:23] Candice: "Was that a break in your voice?" she asks, interestedly, "or do I need to work harder?" Eight months ago this woman would not sleep with /anyone/.
[03:24] Martel: What have you done, Martel. "Is there - some particular reason my composure's so appealing to crack?" Yes.
[03:25] Candice: "It's not precisely /easy/ to do. Also, it's vengeance."
[03:25] Martel: "For /what/?" That was a crack.
[03:26] Candice: "You do it to me. Often." She decides to apply her teeth to the hollow of his throat while she's doing this, experimentally.
[03:27] Martel: "'Revenge' is not the reaction I was intending to inspire, little queen." ...
[03:28] Candice: "No? What was it, then?" She ...really needs to stop doing what she's doing immediately what the hell is wrong with them.
[03:29] * Martel is thoughtfully (no) quiet a while- "Everything else." What are you do- oh. Well, he was only going to keep his hands to himself for so long.
[03:32] Candice: "--turnabout is fair play?" Okay look she's just going to slide on top of him and see if he stops her from it.
[03:33] * Martel stays under her for a moment, regarding her with an expression roughly translating to 'are you SERIOUS', before he rolls her over.
[03:34] * Candice is laughing. "I got a few minutes of watching you squirm. I'll take it."
[03:36] Martel: "I'm a generous dictator," he says, dryly.
[03:38] Candice: "A dictator who nearly got a scarf in the mouth earlier." :>
[03:38] Martel: "Generous and /benevolent/." These are lies, by the way.
[03:41] * Candice looks disbelieving.
[03:41] Martel: "Am I such a terrible husband?" Incidentally it's more common tradition for the wedding to come /before/ these words get thrown around so casually.
[03:42] Candice: "You're a very good husband, even if you're easily derailed by thoughts of gagging me and/or tying me to things."
[03:43] Martel: "I'm a simple man, my dear." Stop lying.
[03:46] * Candice just laughs. "Go to bed, my simple man, unless you want more."
[03:47] * Martel makes a minor production of pushing up onto his hands to examine their whereabouts. "I seem to already be there. /Imagine/." ...for the love of God just go to sleep.
[03:48] Candice: "/Sleep/," she corrects, amused, arching up underneath him again, "I think you're too exhausted to appreciate what I've got to offer."
[03:49] Martel: "Now you're being /cruel/," but he slinks down beside her, and he'd be laughing if it weren't more fun to smirk. This is why people like punching him so much. (...maybe not /this/.)
[03:50] * Candice kisses him long and lingering, and settles down, too. "I'll do anything you want in the morning, caballero. Good night."
[03:50] Martel: "...goodnight, Candice."
