Grif would not recommend the experience necessary for getting MJOLNIR to anyone. In addition to being too weird for Martel, it's just plain too fucking painful for just about anyone to deserve being subjected to it, in his opinion.

That said, he would indeed be down for trading gun skills for sword skills. (Grif does actually know a little bit of sword stuff -- presumably included in his training on the off chance of ever being handed a Covenant energy sword, for all the good that does when the things are almost impossibly rare -- and has been teaching the Senshi what of it he knows, but it's mostly some very unsubtle "3 ways each to slash and stab." In a sword fight where all factors other than skill were equal, Martel would kick his ass. Improvement would thus be appreciated, and suggestions on actually getting a sufficiently quality sword.)

And yeah, having hung out in the Nexus as long as he has, Grif's become familiar with how the Nexus tends to offer a second chance, particularly having gotten one himself. He's also well aware that pretty much everyone comes from one form of crazy or another, so the important part is what you do with that second chance.
