Between the things that keep Martel and Candice respectively quite busy, sometimes it takes him a while to corner her to talk (he can corner her really quickly for...other things), to appraise her of what he's been acquiring and generally to do something other than make a nuisance of himself.

Candice is quite possibly the most patient woman in the multiverse, sometimes. Martel likes to give the impression, occasionally, that he lacks any patience whatsoever; this is not true, like many things he likes to give the impression of from time to time.

(Yes, she is. She will also sidle out of his lap to go hide her face if allowed, which will probably not happen, because they both know when she's being ridiculously fussy.)

"To take off my jeans?" She suspects he'd appreciate that more than the truth, which is 'I am going to go hide until I stop blushing'.

"I think I've mastered the buttons," he offers, gallantly.

"Iii don't know about that." Don't goad him, Candice.

Don't goad him, Candice, because he might find it entertaining to 'accidentally' break aforementioned buttons. Since he hasn't got the hang of them. After all.

"Weren't we having a conversation? Wouldn't you rather focus on that rather than getting me naked in the middle of the day?"

Martel tugs his fingers through her belt loops, amused. "I can be interested in getting under your clothes at any hour, but if you'd rather discuss-"

Candice digs her nails into his shoulder.

"Sure," she says, sweetly.

"What sort of brat have I brought home with me." The sort he loves past bounds of reason. It would be grand if that was more figurative than it is.

"Oh, I'm a brat, am I? I don't know, I think I'm pretty good to you--" Kissing along his jaw and throat will surely demonstrate that. It's interesting, maybe, how often they 'go for the throat' on each other- on one hand, it's a little weird, but on the other, sort of makes sense.

Stop. Trolling each other. It's like they have to do this every time before they can have anything resembling a lengthy conversation.

"To drive you absolutely, exquisitely mad." He kisses her shoulder, rests his face there briefly, and straightens. "We've still got to go looking at those properties- did you want to wait until after this next job of yours?"

"You're not even halfway there, although I don't know if you mean in the conventional sense." GOSH, HOW COULD HE MEAN. "No, let's go before. By the time I get back we should have something confirmed and we can go from there."

Martel smiles blandly at her, and then tilts his head back contemplatively. "All right. I'll sort the situation with Master Doul as best I can for the month, we can make the appointments for - mmm, not this week, the following?"

"I think I can put it off that long, yes." She kisses him, then, briefly. "Just remember to miss me when I'm gone."

"I suspected as much." More biting, Candice? Must we? Recall that before they met she was never really acquainted with such a practice.

Of course, terrifyingly, Martel is basically her first in a lot of ways. That's a little fucked up, you guys.
